Googles New Hit Game: Google Champion Island Games

Google Champion Island Games  By Paloma Lage - Paily  On July 23 2021, Google posted the ‘Google Doodle’  called ‘Doodle Champion Island Games’ which is a 7-part course of games which have been recently added or have been in the Olympics for a while. The seven games are - Rock Climbing, Archery, Skateboarding, Rugby, Synchronised Swimming, Ping Pong and Marathon Running -  all of which have previous winners (all NPC’s).  The previous winners (after you beat them) are called - Tanuki (Skateboarding), Princess Otohime (Synchronised Swimming), Fukuro (Climbing), Tengu (Table Tennis), Yoichi (Archery), The Oni (Rugby) and The Kijimuna (Marathon Running).  Currently, the fastest person to speedrun the Google Doodle (Any% and with Warps), is from Japan and has done it in a bit over 8 minutes (when this article was written)! Overall, this is an incredible game with great animations in between, great pixel art and nice music! It has become very popular and is a fun way to compete in a (mini) o

Why I love Magic: The Gathering

By Sebastian Lage-Paily Magic: The Gathering (or MTG as it's informally known) was the first CCG or collectable card game. It is a game generally played with a 60-card deck. There are five colors of magic - White, Blue, Black, Red, and Green. You can play anywhere between one and five colors in your deck, so you can build whatever unique deck you want. In MTG you cast spells by playing land, and the more land you have the bigger spells you can cast, from small creatures to spells that outright win the game.  In magic, every game is different, as you can have a maximum of four copies of each card in your deck, not counting basic lands. This means that your amazing, game-wining combination of cards (or combo) might only happen once or twice every five games, making sure that each game is non-repetitive and enjoyable for all! And finally, there are many different ways to play. As mentioned earlier, MTG is generally played with a 60-card deck but there are many different deck sizes, fr

Minecraft: MY Favourite Game

Minecraft By Paloma Lage - Paily Minecraft was released by Mojang on the 11th of November 2011 and since then has become a hit-game. Minecraft is currently (at the time of writing this) at the 1.17 update - Caves and Cliffs an update all about updating Minecrafts caves and cliffs . There are new lush caves with plants and cliffs with powdered snow and goats!!  Before the 1.17 update there was the 1.16 Nether Update which added Nether biomes, piglins & hoglins and new Structures like - ruined portals and bastions! Minecraft may look like a cheap pixelated free-play game but it is a lot more than that - it has hundreds of online (public) servers to play mini-games, mods/mod packs, (private) servers, Minecraft Dungeons and millions of YouTube videos and streams of Minecraft!! The basic goal of the game is to: 1. Go to the Nether (with a portal) and kill blazes to get blaze rods at the fortress. 2. Gather enderpearls by killing endermen or trading with piglins. 3. Go back to the over

Among Us

Among Us By Paloma Lage - Paily   Among Us was created by InnerSloth LLC on the 15th of June, 2018! It is (when normally played) a simple game where there are a few (1-3) impostors who can kill (with a cool down) and can vent around the maps - to get around faster. The goal for Crewmates is to figure out who the impostor(s) are before it’s too late - when there are 4 total people, two of which are impostors or 2 total people, 1 of which is an impostor. The impostor also has the ability to sabotage lights (crewmates can see VERY little), oxygen (crewmates have a certain amount of time before they same) same thing for  Among Us has evolved a lot by having fanart, animations, custom mods and much more! Some popular (crewmate) mods are - Sheriff, a crewmate who can try and ‘shoot’ impostors but if they guess wrong they die as well, Engineer - they can vent (like the impostor) and have a ‘auto-save’ for any emergencies.

A Family Trip to Fort Siloso

By Sebastian Lage - Paily Last weekend, our family (the Lage-Paily’s) went to an old British Fort in Singapore called Fort Siloso. It was named that because Siloso means 'rock' and there was a giant rock in the harbour at the time, making it dangerous for any ship to pass through. The fort was never actually used, because the British anticipated that the Japanese would come from the south, and so heavily fortified the area, but instead, the Japanese came through present-day Malaysia, and through the north, where there was much less  stopping them. To get there we walked through Sentosa, probably the most touristy part of Singapore. Sentosa contains many different rides and games, mostly aimed at tourists who come visit Singapore for a short amount of time. But because of COVID- coming to Singapore there were no tourists there, and the park is similar to a ghost-town. Very few people go there, and most rides are closed.  After travelling through Sentosa, we arrived at Fort Silos
